Love Blooms on the East Coast
It is an incredible story of two activists finding one another at Standing Rock and realizing they had a spark in the midst of that movement. Very few of us have been through an experience where a passion for one thing leads to a life long passion and love story. Kat & Jonah are both so warm, cheerful and deeply caring to all people who come across them. I met Kat in Egypt on a sacred pilgrimage and one afternoon over lunch she opened her heart about having a dream wedding with her beloved Jonah for their family & friends in Maryland. She wanted the wedding to feel as potent as the love that she & Jonah live in and it was intimidating on how that can be presented on a wedding day. Held by a circle of soul sisters, we let him know that whatever she needed would be provided with ease & grace. Later that day, I offered her my photography support to capture their true essence and one year later we made the call to seal that deal. Eddy had joined in to film the beautiful garden wedding with me. We journeyed across the US to Maryland and just look at how stunning the countryside on the East Coast is that time of year. We had our rain showers and high humidity at times but what we had the most was endless laughter, abundant family & friend’s support and a strong love bond between everyone who was there.
The location was Zigbone Farm Retreat and I could not get over its charm. The large farmhouse was remodeled without losing the vintage style and the grounds were covered in wild flowers and birds. The lawn became the staging for the ceremony and the backdrop of the mountains was breathtaking. It was extra special that most of the guests could stay on property and enjoy Zigbone for a day or two. The wedding was a deeply felt ceremony held by their dear friend & mentor Val. Kat & Jonah sprinkled in their spiritual beliefs into the ceremony and it made that part of the day a moment to see into their hearts a bit more. I love when couples take the time to create their own vows and direction of the ceremony. That’s what the wedding is all about.. the reflection of their love that brought us all together in the first place.
It was an amazing time to get off the islands and celebrate a wedding in a new & inspiring place. Eddy & I made new friends for life and we hope to journey back there someday.
Kat & Jonah have a love that we all wish to have… a love that is patient, true and everlasting.
Congratulations to you both and we will see you again someday for more veggie burgers and juice boxes!!! To all of their friends and family, thank you for loving Eddy & I and making us feel like we are part of a new bigger East Coast Ohana. We had an unforgettable time.
